Are you friendly, able to listen, initiate conversation and make people feel at ease? Our volunteer service needs you. CARERS TRUST EAST MIDLANDS ARE THE PEOPLE CARERS TURN TO ... We work with over 800 local carers and the people they care for, supporting people of all ages and disabilities, providing carers with essential breaks from the stresses of caring. A carer is someone of any age who provides unpaid support to family or friends whose health or wellbeing could suffer without this help. About the Opportunity We are looking for friendly and reliable volunteers to visit people 18 with a range of health conditions and disabilities, their families and carers, on a regular basis for up to three hours per week, to offer social and emotional support. As a volunteer you will take on a number of simple yet crucial tasks, usually at the home of the person you will help, that will make a huge difference. You will provide one-to-one companionship and support, offer a listening ear, and spend time engaging in everyday conversation, activities or hobbies with the person you are supporting. The activities you carry out depend on the preferences and needs of the person you are supporting, so you may spend time accompanying the person to appointments, social groups, or trips out and about! This role is wide-ranging and the support you offer will vary according to the needs of those using the service, though it's important to note that the volunteer does not provide any personal care or medication support. We aim to support unpaid carers across the City and County of Nottingham to make new friendships and maintain old ones and have a life outside their caring role. YOU WILL BE SUPPORTING -Carers over 18 years -Carer with their own disabilities and difficulties EXPECT ATIONS -Hours to suit between Mon-Sun Induction & Training -Volunteers are supported with a comprehensive induction session before commencement. The training will be relevant to your voluntary role and provide the opportunity to gain valuable skills. -It is a requirement for all volunteers working with vulnerable adults and children to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check at an enhanced level. -We reimburse travel costs and cover DBS check expenses We appreciates all our volunteers and their valuable time they give to others.
